This role exists to increase the number of participants in the Aussie Hoops Program and also the number of registered members in the P&DBA Junior Competitions. Salary to be negotiated pending age, experience and qualifications.
There are three key focus areas with this position:
Promote and present school-based Basketball clinics with the aim to recruit students as registered members in both Aussie Hoops and Junior Basketball Club Competitions
Promote and present the Aussie Hoops program at the Penrith Basketball Association with the aim to provide a grass roots entry level to Basketball and a pathway into Junior Basketball Clubs and Compeitions,
Work with and assist the P&DBA Junior clubs with grass roots coach education and development, skill-based programs and clinics and to increase participation.
Success for this role will result in;
Increased membership and participation for the Aussie Hoops program,
Improved club and school connections,
Greater increase and knowledge of club coaches and improved skill level for club players.
Recruitment, Programs & Events
Deliver programs in schools which ensure connection with P&DBA junior clubs, competitions and/or Aussie Hoops programs
Organise and deliver School Holiday Programs for both junior competitions players and Aussie Hoops members
Organise and deliver Primary School Gala Days in order to increase participation and recruitment for P&DBA
Develop a group of casual Aussie Hoops and School clinic presenters.
Administration & Promotion
Source, develop and present documents and materials for promotion on Social Media, Websites and within the Penrith Basketball Community and local Schools
Keep accurate participation records and databases,
Write suitable Aussie Hoops, Holiday Camp and skill developmetn programs
Provide monthly Participation, School Visits and Recruitment reports.
Other duties as required by the General Manager
Coach and Officials Education
Present or source suitable Coach Presenters for grass roots and BNSW Coaching Accreditation courses,
Assist with recruitment and development of club coaches and referees.
Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Values
Proven Experience with or the proven ability to maintain relationships with stakeholders - i.e. volunteers, coaches, referees, school contacts, P&DBA members, Basketball NSW and Basketball Australia
Confident, polite and effective communication and presentation skills, especially with Primary School ages children,
Computer literate with proficiency in Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook,
Knowledge of specific Basketball programs such as the Sporting Schools program,
Motivate and willing to work alone and as part of a team.
Weekend and evening work will be required due to the nature of the role and the sports industry.
Previous volunteer experience in Basketball
Current Working with Childrens Check or willingness/ability to attain,
Accreditation in Basketball Coaching,
Current Driver's License,
Experience in delivering and implementing Basketball programs at the grass roots level
Working with children check
Experience in Basketball at grass roots level
Accreditation in Basketball Coaching
Previous Volunteer Experience in Sport
Teaching/Coaching Experience with Primary Aged Children
