Mood Active is a charity that runs low cost and free small group motivational exercise programs to help people aged 18-65 yerars in their mental health recovery. This is because exercise as a therapy is often expensive and unaffordable in comparison to other mental health treatments and we want to make it accessible to all. We are currently seeking a number of positive and enthusiastic small Group Fitness Trainers/Istructors to join our team.
Ideally the volunteers position would only be for one small group body circuit or light weight circuit class a week outdoors (Prince Alfred Park) although if you have a gym setting we can consider this and we are flexible on times. Ideally 8am 9am, 9.30am or 4.30pm onwards due to heat. A minimum commitment of at least 12 weeks is required due to the nature of our clients and many of our trainers stay longer term. In return we offer a number of free workshops including Mental Health Response training, Coaching skills for Trainers, Motivational techniques for Clients and Creating Psycholigical Safety for clients. We also have opportunities for individuals to undertake adhoc paid work for our 4 and 8 week programs once they are trained. Note: We close over Xmas.
If you're looking for experience working in mental health, have a minimum Cert IV in fitness and want to be a part of our team then please get in touch.
